How to reach San Marino

The territory of San Marino (61 sq. km) is mostly bill  country, roughly square-shaped with Mount Titano in the  centre (lat. 43°, 56', 06" - long. cast of Greenwich 12°, 26',  56" - 750 metres a.s.1. and 10 km as the crow flies from the  Adriatic Coast). lt borders on two ltalian regions, Emilia  Romagna to the north-cast and Marche - Montefeltro to the  south-west.

San Marino bas no mineral resources, most of its land area  is cultivated, or covered with woods and pine forests,  though increasingly larger tracts are being built up.

Crop farming, sheep farming and the working of stone  from the quarries of Mount Titano were once the major  economic activities of the small Republic.

Starting in the 60s, similarly to other areas, many people  abandoned the land following rapid and widespread  industrial and commercial development, fostered to a great  extent by an expanding tourist industry.  Most of the land is now given over to grain, vines and  orchards, and to the rearing of cattle and pigs.

Ceramics, tiles, furniture, confectionery and spirits, paints,  fabrics and clothes are among the most important products  made by a number of medium and small enterprises.
